Signed with monogram, lower right Painted circa 1920s This is a very charming early 20th century coastal scene by the artist-curator Peter Mackie ARSA. Peter Robert MacLeod Mackie (1867 – 1959) was educated in Edinburgh and Paris, and became ARSA in 1933. He exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy; Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts; and in Liverpool. He was curator of the Kirkcaldy Art Gallery from 1929 to 1948. The painting is presented within a suitable white frame, which has a gilt sight edge.
